Championship Show 2023
(Claire Cox)

I would like to thank the committee for inviting me to judge at this show, it was an appointment that I enjoyed very much. I must thank my Stewards Georgina and Terri who kept everything running smoothly and efficiently allowing me to only focus on the dogs, Thankyou so much ladies. Although the weather this year was wet, cool and rather disappointing, the same cannot be said about the quality of my entry, and I was more than pleased with my winners and my line ups. The sportsmanship and atmosphere on the day was wonderful, and it made for a super day all round! Temperaments were, without exception superb, and presentation generally was excellent too. I had very few mouth faults, and overall I feel that tails are improving as are fronts and feet.

Minor Puppy Dog (2,0a): 1st Mullhall’s Vigo from Hause Hertog (Imp BEL) 8 months old, medium size, and the most beautiful rich tan. Very attractive broad, masculine but clean head, broad muzzle, correct dentition and excellent pigmentation. Dark brown eyes of correct shape, close fitting pendant ears which he will grow into as he matures. Medium angles fore and aft and forechest developing nicely as would be expected for his age. He has good bone and substance, strong compact feet with well arched toes and excellent width to his thigh. Movement a little erratic initially, but once settled he covered the ground well maintaining his shape, well carried tail.

2nd Allen & Steel’s Upend Edward: just under 7 months  old, excellent colour, smaller than winner with bone in proportion to his size.  Masculine head, correct dentition, medium pigment. Dark eye of good shape, medium correctly held ears. Very nice outline, balanced angulation, good top and underline. Moved sound and steady, well set and carried tail, a lovely happy boy who only lost out on maturity today.

Puppy Dog (4,1a): 1st Eggerton & Sutcliffe Bereyda The Real Defender: 9 month large male with excellent bone. He has a broad masculine head, dark eyes, correct mouth with dark pigment and medium size close fitting ears. Good length of neck, well muscled and clean over withers. Enough angulation front and rear, forechest developing nicely, super feet, compact with well arched toes. I would prefer him a little shorter through the loin, but he moves well and holds his shape and top line so earned his place and Best Puppy Dog.

2nd: Finch’s Panelma The Lone Ranger: Almost 12 months old, smaller and lighter boned than winner. Masculine head, correct dentition, medium pigmentation. He has dark eyes of correct shape and medium size correctly carried ears, he had beautiful expression too. Correct angles front and rear, makes a good shape when standing, moved well with correct well carried tail. He will be a late maturer, but has many excellent qualities, so I’m sure will be worth waiting for.

3rd: Sutcliffe’s Bereyda The Emperor

Junior Dog (3,0a) 1st: Cocks’ Jacary Blaze of Glory: 16 month medium size male, super colour, medium bone excellent strong compact feet. Very attractive masculine head, clean over skull, broad muzzle, neat medium size ears and dark eyes which give him a lovely expression. Correct dentition with dark pigmentation. Strong muscled neck, clean over withers, well developed forechest and excellent angulation throughout, he moved very well, one to watch in the future.

2nd: Docherty & Dunhill-Hall’s Fantasa Juste Voiture Noire: 14 month old well grown male who presents an excellent outline. Masculine head, broad muzzle and clean, dry broad skull, dark expressive eyes and medium ears that lie close to skull. Correct dentition and mottled pigment. Strong neck, clean over withers, forechest developing nicely. Very good angulation front and rear, good width to thigh, correct tail carried well, moved well holding his shape.

3rd: Moss’ Chantavory’s One and Only

Yearling Dog (3,0a) 1st: Clark’s Dortmund Dizzy Rascal: Compact medium size boy with masculine head, broad muzzle, dark eye, medium size close fitting ears all together giving a lovely expression. Correct dentition and the darkest of pigmentation. Very dark markings. Excellent strong compact feet, good bone, balanced angles front and rear, well developed forechest. Moved very well retaining his shape and topline and carrying his tail well.

2nd: Ward & Hull’s Warrimead Floki: Medium/large size and a different type to the winner. Masculine head, dark eye, correct close fitting ears, correct dentition and good mouth pigment. Strong neck, clean through withers, well developed forechest, good angles front and rear. Feet ok. Excellent width to thigh, good tail, preferred movement of winner.

3rd: Wicker’s Bluegold Blue Flint

Novice Dog (1,0) 1st: Rivett’s Jezeve Castaway: Stood alone but gave a good account of himself, good size but at 16 months he is still maturing so looks a bit up on leg at the moment. Masculine head, clean skull broad muzzle, dark eye of good shape and neat ears carried correctly. Correct dentition and dark pigment. Good length of neck, clean over withers, straight front and good feet. Balanced angulation, moved well with good stride.

Post Graduate Dog (5,3a) 1st: Miller’s Ausries Moscow Mule: Medium size substantial male with clean dry masculine head, broad muzzle, dark eye of good shape, correct ear placement. Correct dentition and dark pigmentation. Well off for bone, straight front and strong compact feet. Good angulation front and rear, he also has lovely bend of stifle and great width of thigh. Movement sound and fluid with good reach and drive, and correct well carried tail.

2nd: Hardy’s Omnianostra Out of the Blue for Varykino: Compact male slightly different type to winner. Good male head, dark eye, close fitting ears, correct dentition, mottled pigmentation. Strong neck, well developed forechest, not as clean over withers as winner. Straight front good feet, moderate angulation, good tail. Moved soundly but couldn’t match extension of winner.

Limit Dog (3,1a) 1st: Docherty’s Fantasa Just out the Blu: Mature masculine male who presents a clean and substantial outline. Attractive head with slight wrinkle when alert (which is most of the time!) Dark expressive eye, smaller ears but used and held well. Correct dentition, mottled pigment. Strong neck, well developed forechest, markings slightly sooty on legs but doesn’t detract overall. Good top and underlines, very good tail. Good balanced angulation fore and aft, movement accurate and very sound with purpose and enthusiasm.

2nd: Moran’s Almaz Quantum Auri: Good size male, attractive head with gentle expression, dark correct shape eye, correct ears although reluctant to use them today. Correct dentition and dark pigment. Strong good length of neck, slight roll over withers, good angulation, carrying a good tail. Preferred movement of winner.

Open Dog (3,0) 1st Bateson & Hoole’s CH Upmont Al Capone:  Impressive male, medium/large size, super bone and substance with excellent feet, straight front, well developed forechest and rich markings. Strong masculine head, broad muzzle, dark eye, correct ear placement, correct dentition and dark pigmentation. Strong neck, clean over withers, good top and underlines, strong rear with good width to thigh, tail carried higher on the move but not tight, moved accurately and covered the ground well.

2nd Tuttle’s Laverko One Day More: Larger male all round compared to winner, but in proportion with good bone and substance. Masculine head free from wrinkle, dark eye, medium size ears but reluctant to use them today. Correct dentition mottled pigmentation. Straight front, good feet and good depth to brisket. Good angulation front and rear,  together with good width of thigh and strong hocks gave him plenty of drive on the move, good tail.

3rd Trueman, Brownridge & Cartwright’s Steigan Nevada Mit Jaegerot

Champion Dog (5,0a) 1st CH Gaston Earl Antonius (Imp SRB): Medium size boy who is all male but not overdone in any way, he was just what I was hoping to find today. Masculine head, good width to skull with very slight wrinkle, broad muzzle, dark eye, correct close fitting ears held well. Correct dentition and darkest of pigmentation. He has a strong, self assured even slightly arrogant expression that shouts male Rottweiler. Super front and compact feet with strong well arched toes. Strong neck, clean over withers and well developed forechest. Super angles front and rear, excellent bend of stifle and strong hocks, excellent movement with reach and drive holding topline and shape at all times, good tail. He’s just so well balanced. He momentarily lost concentration in the challenge with the bitch for best in show, but quickly refocused and didn’t put a foot wrong, CC and well deserved BIS.

2nd Bateson’s CH Upend Blade: Another excellent dog of super breed type, unlucky to meet winner on such good form today, that being said, he pushed hard for the top spot. Medium size powerful male with great bone and substance. Strong head without coarseness, lovely dark eye of correct shape, medium close fitting ears, correct dentition and dark pigment. Rich mahogany markings. Straight front, well developed forechest, good feet, balanced angulation front and rear, moderate bend of stifle. Tail carried up, but correct sabre shape. Well deserved RCC.

3rd James &Thompson’s CH Bamabel Ezekiel

Veteran Dog (1,0) 1st Goodban & Dunhill-Hall’s Fantasa Just Ace it with Keljaygo: 8yr old male, Medium size with bone and substance in proportion. This boy has no exaggeration and although he stood alone, he well deserved his win. Attractive male head, clean skull of good width, his ears are fairly small but carried correctly adding more width to skull. He has dark eyes and in the breed standard it calls for a ‘calm gaze indicating good humour’ he certainly has that, he won me over totally with his cheeky attitude and I’m sure he was smiling!  Correct dentition, darkest of pigmentation, my notes comment on what a beautiful mouth he has especially at over 8. Good balanced angles, straight front, compact feet and decent forechest. Thoroughly enjoying his day, he pulled out all the stops when challenging for best veteran, and won it over the bitch as she was unable to match his extension on the move. BVD and BVIS.

Minor Puppy Bitch (1,0) 1st Gibson’s Tikaram Kadi Diester: 8 month old who was attending her first Ch Show, she had so much to contend with, as the rain and the wind had set in but she did very well indeed. She was handled extremely sympathetically and although a little raw at the moment, her time will come. Pretty head, dark eyes of good shape, she has a lovely expression and although her ears look a bit on the large side at the moment, I’m sure she will grow into them. Correct dentition, medium pigmentation, good length of neck, balanced angulation, feet ok, good tail, moved steadily holding her shape.

Puppy Bitch (5,1a) 1st Monk’s Olearia Queen of Hearts: 10 month bitch who is beginning to mature nicely. Attractive feminine head without exaggeration, she has medium brown eyes and a calm steady expression. Medium size close fitting pendant ears used to advantage. Correct dentition, medium pigmentation. Nice length of neck, clean over withers, straight front, good colour and good feet. Correct angulation to front, a bit extra to the rear, she has a good top line which was held on the move and good tail carried well. She moved well and I’m sure will continue to improve with maturity. BPB & BPIS.

2nd Rowarth’s Darkarmar Winx: 9months of age and a different type to winner, but still excellent quality. Medium size compact bitch with well developed forechest. She has a super head and beautiful dark eye, small ears used to advantage, very alert expression. Correct dentition and lovely dark pigmentation. Excellent length of neck, clean over withers, super front, forechest and angles front and rear. She was so keen on the move that she was a little erratic at times and as a result she lost her shape, definitely a star of the future.

3rd Morgan’s Almaz Don’t Stop Believing

Junior Bitch (4,1a) 1st Docherty & Dunhill-Hall’s Fantasa Daddy’s Girl: another beautiful bitch of quality, medium size, good rich colour. Feminine head with lovely dark expressive eyes, medium ears held correctly , clean broad skull, correct dentition and good pigmentation. She has good length of neck, clean over withers, straight front and compact feet. Well developed forechest and well muscled throughout given that she is only 14 months old. Correct angulation, good bend of stifle and strong hocks, moved very well covering the ground, holding her shape and carrying tail well.

2nd Allen’s Jodipas Valen Time (AI) JW: 17 month old and larger bitch than winner, nice feminine head, dark eye, ear set ok, correct dentition and dark mouth. Very nice colour, straight front, good strong compact feet, good angles throughout, top and underline good, excellent bend of stifle and width to thigh, moved well with good tail.

3rd Clark’s Botlierskop Capella

Yearling Bitch (6,0) 1st Bateson & Hoole’s Upmond Gypsy Roma: Medium/ large bitch without coarseness or exaggeration, feminine head, dark almond shape eye, medium ears held and used well, correct dentition with dark pigmentation. Straight front, good feet, nice length of neck, clean over withers. Correct angulation front and rear, good top and underlines, well carried tail, moved very well holding her shape.

2nd Ward’s Warrimead Largertha: Pretty medium size bitch who presents a very nice shape. Nice head , dark eye, medium ear, correct dentition with mottled pigment. Straight front and compact feet. Shorter coupled than 1, good reach of neck, well developed forechest. Good angulation front and rear with strong backend and well carried tail. Moved well.

3rd Plimmer’s Victorem My Funny Valentine.

Novice Bitch (5,2) 1st Watts & Gibbard’s Jezeve Pickpocket: Large size bitch, lovely feminine head with broad, clean skull, lovely dark almond shape eye and close fitting ears. She’s a good rich colour and has good shoulders, a straight front, good feet and enough forechest. She moves well carrying a good tail, would prefer more width of thigh and a bit more rear angulation to complete the picture.

2nd Sutcliffe’s Bereyda Esna: Smaller, more compact bitch with attractive feminine head, dark eyes, correct dentition and pigmentation, straight front and compact feet. Balanced angulation, good top and underlines, moved well with correct tail, sadly she lost her topline on the move.

3rd Coleman’s Jezeve Born to be Wild

Post Graduate Bitch (3,0) 1st Sutcliffe’s Bereyda Speechless: Medium size compact bitch of good breed type and substance. Broad clean skull, very pretty head with dark expressive eyes and small but well placed ears. Correct dentition and excellent pigmentation. Good length of neck, clean over withers, good forechest, straight front and good feet. Very good shoulders, deep brisket, strong topline, good angles throughout and strong rear, she moved very well with good tail.

2nd Coleman’s Jezeve Born to be Wild: Taller, more rangy bitch than winner, but has a feminine head, dark eye, medium size close fitting ears, correct dentition and good pigment. Straight front and strong compact feet. Balanced angulation but I would prefer more, she moved very soundly but without the reach and drive of the winner. Tail carried higher and tighter than 1.

3rd Craig’s Jezeve Black Dahlia

Limit Bitch (4,1) 1st Richards’ Hanbar Enigma At Ruiz: Medium size bitch of excellent breed type who has boundless energy and doesn’t make it easy for her handler! I must say I loved her attitude. Lovely feminine head of correct proportions, good width to skull complimented by medium ears when she brought them forward. Beautiful dark expressive eyes, correct dentition and dark pigmentation. Strong muscled neck flowing into clean withers, straight front, well developed forechest, compact strong feet. She has excellent balanced angulation all through, lovely bend of stifle and strong hocks, she has wonderful muscle tone and is superbly fit, no surprise really that she really came into her own on the move, I could have watched her all day, thoroughly deserved this class and couldn’t be denied the CC & BOSIS, her 3rd and crowning CC I was told, a very worthy champion

2nd Monk &Jones’ Westfalen Love by Design: Another beautiful bitch with so much to offer in quality and breed type. Very pretty feminine head and the darkest of eyes and medium close fitting ears give this girl a beautiful expression. Correct dentition and dark pigmentation. She presents a very nice outline with good length of neck, clean over withers, good forechest, straight front and good top and underlines. Very nice angulation front and rear, good width of thigh, moved very well with good tail. Unfortunate to meet winner today, but most definitely deserved Res CC.

3rd Clark’s Botlierskop Titan Theia

Open Bitch (5,0) 1st Tuttle’s Laverko Defying Gravity: Medium/large size bitch with attractive head and clean broad skull,  dark almond shape eyes and medium close fitting ears which added width to head when used, correct dentition mottled pigmentation. She has plenty of angulation fore and aft, excellent forechest, straight front, good feet. She has more length of loin than ideal and has a tendency to lean forward towards handler which accentuates this, however, on the move she makes a better shape and holds her topline. Very good movement covering the ground well, Good tail.

2nd Haigh’s Jaqary Rhyme N Reason: Much smaller and more compact bitch than the winner, feminine head of correct proportions, dark eye, medium ear carried close to cheeks, correct dentition and dark mouth. Good length of neck, clean over withers, straight front and compact feet. Balanced angulation, good tail, moved well but without the fluidity of winner.

3rd Harwood’s Wolfbass Mama Cita at Kimian

Champion Bitch (2,0) 1st Jones’ CH Olearia Western Girl from Westfalen: medium size bitch with lovely outline, correct in so many departments. Beautiful feminine head with strength but not overdone in any area, really lovely calm expression. Dark brown eyes, correct ears, lovely colour, correct dentition and dark mouth. Excellent front, strong compact feet, correct length of neck, clean withers, good top and underlines. Very good strong backend with good width to thigh, moved very well with good tail. In the challenge I just preferred the shorter loin of the RCC winner, who I hear is this girl’s daughter.

2nd Rowarth & Pinky’s CH Darkarmar Selene: Another lovely bitch who pushed very hard in this class. Medium size, good bone and substance, makes a very nice compact outline. Feminine head, darkest of eyes and small ears, markings are a beautiful rich mahogany colour. Strong neck, clean over withers, straight front, feet ok. Good angulation front and rear, very well muscled, moved well retaining shape. Just preferred expression of winner.

Veteran Bitch (3,0) 1st Horton’s CH Juffther Happy Bunny JW: Small/medium size bitch who carries her 8 years very well. Very attractive feminine head, dark almond shape eye, small ears carried close to cheeks, correct dentition, still has nice clean teeth and dark mottled pigment. Excellent reach of neck, pronounced forechest, straight front and compact feet. Very good angulation and width to thigh, moved very well carrying a good tail. Pushed hard for best veteran.

2nd Moss’s Blushing Bacardy at Chantavory: 9 years old she’s a larger bitch than winner with proportionate bone and substance. Strong but feminine head, dark eye, medium ears carried well, correct dentition, just beginning to lose some pigment but teeth still clean. Strong neck,  clean over withers, good straight front, feet not as tight as 1. Well developed forechest, good top and underlines, balanced angulation, strong well muscled rear. Moved very well. This girl was really enjoying her day, and even at the age of 9 was desperate to get her toy, just lovely!
